Frequently Asked
Questions

What is the difference between Sun Control and Low-E films?

Sun Control films help to manage the sun’s radiation, reducing UV, visible and infrared light.  Low-E films combine the benefits of Sun Control Films, while also leveraging 3M’s market-leading “Thinsulate” technology to help insulate cold, drafty windows during the winter.

What do Low-E films look like?

Low-E films contain specialized metal layers to help reflect far-infrared heat back into a building’s interior during the winter.  They come in reflective and non-reflective versions, and can have a slight metalized “glow” at night.
